Blackjack's immediate precursor was the English Model of 20-just one called vingt-un, a recreation of unfamiliar provenance. The initial published reference is located in a book with the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes. Cervantes was a gambler, and also the protagonists of his "Rinconete y Cortadillo", from Novelas Ejemplares, are card cheats in
